As part of the Fairfax County of the state of Virginia, Springfield has its own claim to history, which makes it a great tourist destination. It was once just a saw and grist mill back in the day, between 1796 and 1800. But in 1847, it has become a rural crossroad with its own railroad station and post office. In 1861, a skirmish between Union and Confederate soldiers happened there during the American Civil War.

The Mexican restaurants in this place are among the best in the state, if not the whole country.
